Generally speaking, parents are required to provide consent for a child to be seen and examined by a physician. In our office, if parents are unable to accompany their daughter to her appointment, we ask them to sign a permission slip for her to be seen before her appointment. Adults who are not a child's parent or legal guardian cannot give this consent. What if your daughter doesn't want you to accompany her to the visit?
